Apartment rentals and Hotels:
We lucked into a corner room at the Hotel Skt. Petri. It's a pricey reservation but they offer really good last minute deals. Perfect location a few minutes from the Strogen and attention to everything you could ask for.
The 71 Nyhavn Hotel is overlooking the Nyhavn harbor. It's a comfortable "no frills" hotel in a beautiful location. The price is less than the Hotel Skt. Petri

There is a historical film at the Rosenbourg Castle that gives a very good introduction to the times of King Christian IV, his failed marriage to Kirsten Munk and his ghost that still haunts the castle.
Restaurants and Food:
Try some frikadelle (meatballs) and good Danish Beer
Restaurants and Food:
Some local favorites include the cepelinai (a small potato football filled with meat) that did in fact get it's name from the dirigible created by Count Ferdinand Von Zeppelin. Or if you're really adventurous, try the vedarai (intestines stuffed with potatoes). They also make a honey beer that's really tasty.

Apartment rentals and Hotels:
We stayed at the Three Sisters Hotel. It was a nice "old world" place but our window was to the street. Given Tallin's reputation as a drinker's city and the fact that the sun didn't set till after midnight, sleep was a luxury that wasn't included in this luxury hotel. However, the owners of the Three Sisters have recently opened up a new hotel. The Hotel Telegraaf in the Old Town and it has everything we like. Too bad we had already prepaid our room at the Three Sisters. The Telegraaf is so new it's not listed in any of the hotel websites yet, but take our word for it, it's the place to go.

|
The Old Town has been bombed out a lot but it still holds most of it's 16th-18th century charm. It's a good three day city

Restaurants and Food:
Vanaema Juures (Grandma’s Place) on Rataskaevu Street near the Town Hall square. It's hard to get a table in this small underground restaurant, but be persistant. It's a great meal; just like Granda would have made. This is a meat eatery, but there are lots of veggie choices as well.
